On April 25, the International School of Panama (ISP) hosted the fifth annual Panamanian Association of Internationally Minded Schools (PAIS) Teachers Conference. The theme of this year’s conference was “Looking at Learning: A Holistic Approach to Education.” Special guest Silvia Rosenthal Tolisano was the conference keynote speaker. In addition to an infamous keynote and a consultant from NWEA, Shoshanna Bauer, over 40 teacher leaders from Panama presented!
This year’s conference was the largest conference in the 5 years it has been running with just under 500 participants from 10 Panamanian schools. Participants were greeted by ISP’s very own Grade 8 Rock Band to ensure a dynamic start to the event. To model eco-responsibility, teachers attending utilized a conference application to limit paper use and help “green” this PAIS conference. Many new initiatives and records were set his year!
In addition to being sponsored by AASSA, the conference was a success due to the many contributions and efforts of the PAIS Board of Directors (Beth Almack, Crossroads Christian Academy; Monique Flickinger, Metropolitan School of Panama; Viki Stiebert, International School of Panama; Venessa Whay, King’s College; April Yetsko, Magen David Academy) and the PAIS Committee (Chair: Vickie Swann, International School of Panama and Members: Erin Hester, PAIS Assistant; Carol Clark, Crossroads Christian Academy; Amina Lacour, Metropolitan School of Panama; Mike Pilliod, Crossroads Christian Academy; Laila Segurado, Magen David Academy; Sarika Sharma, International School of Panama). Many thanks to all of our supporters!
We look forward to hosting the sixth annual teachers conference next year on March 25, 2019 at the International School of Panama. We hope to see you there…
