Welcoming and Supportive Community

The value of being part of a connected community to share cannot be overstated.  Collegiality and a genuine warmth truly make AMISA special.

Networked International Schools

AMISA Member Schools are extremely networked.  School operations and academic leaders as well as teacher leaders from early childhood through secondary support each other through collaboration and the sharing of resources on an ongoing basis.

Teacher & Leader Recruiting Service

The AMISA Recruiting Service for hiring teachers and school leaders is only available to AMISA Member Schools. The Recruiting Service includes unlimited job postings, hires, recruitment events and more for one low price.

High Quality Professional Learning

AMISA Professional Learning includes in-person and online learning and networking opportunities to engage with cutting edge consultants, colleagues, and leaders across educational areas and topics.

Member Only Resources & Support

All faculty and staff at AMISA Member Schools are AMISA Members, not just the Head of School or a subset of administrators. AMISA offers many member-only resources and job-alike networking opportunities as well as specific awards and recognitions to our members.

Comprehensive Services

AMISA offers a wide-range of Services including school supply procurement, salary and benefits surveys, access to grant support, and many more.

Uniquely Positioned

AMISA serves as a regional organization with the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Overseas Schools. This partnership allows AMISA members to directly benefit from the unique support, expertise and resources of the Office of Overseas Schools.

Strategic Partnerships

AMISA develops strategic partnerships with many organizations on an ongoing basis to support AMISA members.  Examples include discounted pricing on products and services as well as access to expert networks.

Enhanced Membership Criteria

To maintain a community of schools that uphold AMISA’s values, member schools must meet certain criteria including:

  • Member schools must be in existence for a minimum of five (5) years, which allows the AMISA community to understand how the school operates to ensure ethical behavior and mission alignment.

  • Member schools being Accredited, which provides an external validation and commitment to continuous improvement.

  • Member schools having a Child Protection policy and engage in ongoing Child Protection training

See the full list of membership criteria, benefits and fees here.

We welcome schools interested in joining our community to reach out to our Executive Director, Dr. Dereck Rhoads, by email at dereck[at]amisa.us.

Testimonials from current AMISA Heads of School

“Atlanta International School was honored to become the first US based member of AMISA. Since that time, our administrators, teachers and operational staff have taken full advantage of the many relevant and pertinent (and often free for AMISA members) professional development opportunities.  As a head of School--the collective professional wisdom of our AMISA heads and the resources we can tap into for and share with each other have been invaluable.”

-Kevin Glass, Head of School at Atlanta International School

“The annual AMISA Governance Conference, which I attend each year with my board, has been transformative. It provides board members with crucial clarity about their roles, fosters strategic thinking, and offers opportunities to connect with other leaders in international education. Equally valuable are AMISA’s Heads’ Retreat, Leadership Conference, and Educators’ Conference. These events go beyond professional development, offering rich experiences for growth, collaboration, and networking at every level of school leadership and operations. The additional services AMISA offers—such as recruitment, procurement support, international payments, and grants—have also been instrumental in strengthening our school’s operations. AMISA is not just an organization; it’s a thriving community dedicated to empowering international schools to reach their highest potential.”

-Audrey Menard, Head of School at the International School of Panama
