AMISA GOVERNANCE CONFERENCE 2026
Next-Generation Governance: Relevant Leadership for Future-Ready Schools
The AMISA Governance Conference brings together board members and school leaders to explore what it means to govern with foresight, integrity, and purpose in a world of constant change. As the future our students will inherit continues to evolve, effective governance must move beyond oversight to strategic stewardship that keeps learning at the center. This conference challenges leaders to think boldly about their role in shaping adaptive, mission-driven schools—schools that are prepared not just for today’s realities, but for tomorrow’s possibilities.
There is a very limited number of workshops that will be selected by a conference committee based on a variety of factors. Please make sure to be as comprehensive in the workshop proposal as possible, keeping in mind the above conference audience. Submissions are only open to school boards at this time.

Conference Session Topics and Formats
Sessions should focus on one of the following topics:
-
Optimizing Board Operations
-
Sustaining Strategic Thinking
-
Long-term Facilities Planning
-
Capital Campaigns - Financial Sustainability
Workshop - 75 min
Engage participants in a hands-on session around specific content using interactive strategies and approaches to learning. Participants should leave the session with specific "take-aways" or next steps to apply their learning within their contexts.
School Success Case Study - 75 min
Schools can present and share a School Success Case Study about their journey of facing a challenge or obstacle and their process of overcoming it in order to achieve success. Case studies should be designed in a way that protects confidentiality of events and individuals and encourages participants to apply what they have learned through the process to their own school contexts.
