Celebrating Global Citizenship: Winners of the 2024 AMISA Global Citizen Award Announced

At AMISA, we believe in the power of education not only to shape minds but also to inspire hearts and transform communities. This belief is at the core of the AMISA Global Citizen Award, an initiative that celebrates students who exemplify outstanding commitment to service, international understanding, and positive global change.

We are thrilled to announce the winners of the 2024 AMISA Global Citizen Award, sponsored by TieCare International. These remarkable students and groups from AMISA Member Schools have demonstrated exceptional dedication and initiative in addressing global challenges, fostering international understanding, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.


$1,000 Winner: Colegio Maya

Congratulations to Zainab O., Zohar A., Paula V., Sophia C., Eugene S., Elisa (Willow) C., Romina G., and Roslyn H. from Colegio Maya! Their project, the Saturday Session project with Alcance Por Mi Barrio, is a shining example of collaborative community partnership. For seven years, these student leaders of the NHS Eagle Chapter have worked tirelessly to address issues of unequal access to education, school desertion, and poverty. Through their dedication and reflection, they have expanded their project each year, creating lasting positive change.




$500 Winner: Escuela Campo Alegre

Isabelle A., Pierina P., Luciana L., Anabella H., Helena H., Diego H., and Matias Pietro H. from Escuela Campo Alegre have demonstrated extraordinary leadership and compassion with Project Petare. By supporting students at a local school in Petare, Caracas, they have shown a deep commitment to improving the lives of others. Their initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, reflecting their dedication to addressing pressing global issues.




$500 Winner: Pan American School of Bahia

Catarina A. and Malu C. from the Pan American School of Bahia have spearheaded the "Green PASB" project, promoting sustainability and environmental awareness within their school community. Their diligence and care have led to tangible improvements and raised awareness of ecological issues, emphasizing the importance of local and global responsibility towards our planet.




$250 Winner: Colegio Nueva Granada

Carlota R. from Colegio Nueva Granada has made a significant impact with her project, providing students from Fundacion Hogar Nueva Granada with valuable opportunities in musical theater. By fostering creativity and connection through the arts, Carlota has enriched the lives of vulnerable students in neighboring communities, showcasing the power of education to inspire and uplift.




$250 Winner: The American School of Asunción

Michelle L. from The American School of Asunción has shown exemplary leadership in her involvement with TECHO, a nonprofit organization fighting extreme poverty in Latin America. Through her dedication, Michelle has mobilized her peers, increased fundraising efforts, and contributed to the construction of transitional housing. Her commitment to social inclusion and community service is truly inspiring.




We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the winners of the 2024 AMISA Global Citizen Award. Your dedication to service, leadership, and global citizenship is a testament to the values we hold dear at AMISA.


We would also like to recognize the honorable mention schools: Avenues São Paulo, Cayman International School, and COJOWA. Your commitment to fostering global citizenship within your communities is commendable.


The winners were celebrated at the 2024 AMISA Educators Conference in Paraguay, at The American School of Asunción. We applaud their achievements and look forward to witnessing the continued impact of their projects in the years to come.
