About the Event

You’re invited to an insightful session on cultivating culture in our secondary classrooms. Speaker Linda An, a Savvas literacy specialist and international educator, will uncover the research behind culturally responsive instruction and share inclusive practices and opportunities for multilingual learners.

From interacting with literature to infusing popular culture into classroom conversations, you’ll learn how to create a more culturally responsive and engaging classroom community. Ms. An will draw from the research of Dr. Ernest Morrell, a distinguished scholar, practitioner, and Savvas author. His research makes a compelling case for educators to incorporate practices that validate and affirm student identities to impact their academic potential such as cultivating student voice, opportunities for collaboration, and valuing what students bring to the table.
