About the Event

Join Superintendent, Dr. Baron Davis, for a Sptlight Series on Creating a Culture of Inclusion: Promoting DEI in the Workplace. This is a three session series event.

Session 1: Culture of Inclusion - Promoting DEI | September 9, 2021 @ 6:00pm ET

Educational spaces must be inclusive! Educational leaders will examine DEI closely while assessing their organizational values, beliefs, and practices. Leaders will define the terms of DEI and answer the question, what does DEI look like in our culture.

Session 2: Hiring the Right People - Recruitment, Development and Retention - September 23, 2021 @ 6:00pm ET

Everyone plays a role in recruiting for diversity, equity, and   inclusion - all current and future partners are vital to this process.   Leaders will examine and explore the practices and benefits of recruiting,   developing and retaining a diverse workforce.

Session 3: Resetting the Table - What’s on the Menu | September 30, 2021 @ 6:00pm ET

Educational leaders will discuss the future of education as it relates to creating and sustaining spaces for DEI and how this will impact student learning, teacher quality, school culture and climate, and community at large.

Dr. Baron R. Davis is Superintendent of Richland School District Two in Columbia, SC. He is the first African American superintendent in the district’s 90-plus-years history. Discovering his passion and purpose early, Dr. Davis has been a trailblazer for public education for over two decades. As an educational leader, Dr. Davis is committed to dismantaling historical and current policies and practices that create sustain systems of inequity and inequality.
