JAIME CASAP | DISMANTLING OUR NOTION OF EDUCATION

February 10, 2022 -- 4:00pm ET

Break it down in order to build it back up.

Join Jaime as he guides our thinking around building a new framework of education by first breaking down and dismantling the existing structures. What are the old structures that exist and why are they no longer relevant? Participants will be challenged throughout his conversation with provocations that force a critical review about topics such as understanding the past and present purpose of education and its role in relation to society and work, and the 'why' and 'how' we dismantle the system in order to rebuild it for the futre needs of society and work.

Jaime Casap served as the Chief Education Evangelist at Google for more than 14 years and was the second member of the Google for Education team. In that time, Jaime launched Google’s GSuite tools into higher education and K12. He also launched Chromebooks into education and was the creator of the Google for Education Transformation Framework, a holistic approach to education transformation. Now Jaime is partnering and collaborating with higher education institutions, school systems, and businesses around the world, helping them build transformational policies and practices to elevate education and bring equity, diversity, and inclusion into their policies and practices. He speaks on education, digitalization, diversity and inclusion, generation z, and the future of work at events around the world. DENICE FROHMAN | THE POWER OF LANGUAGE IN BUILDING INCLUSIVE CULTURES

April 28, 2022 -- 4:00pm ET

How do we use the power of language to build inclusive cultures?

Poet, activist, and educator, Denice Frohman will deliver a performance and talk about the importance of building an intentional relationship with language in the classroom and beyond. In this 45-minute session, Frohman will use poetry as an entry-point for understanding identity formation, critical thinking, and how we can all reevaluate the stories we tell ourselves, the stories told about us, and the stories we tell about each other. Educators will understand how to use the power of art and storytelling to address social justice issues in their schools and communities; building a learning culture that encourages students to use their creative voices. The performance will be followed by a live Q&A session with Denice Frohman.

Denice Frohman is a poet, performer and educator from New York City. A CantoMundo Fellow, she’s received residencies and awards from the National Association of Latino Arts & Cultures, Leeway Foundation, Millay Colony and Blue Mountain Center. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, The BreakBeat Poets: LatiNext, Nepantla: An Anthology for Queer Poets of Color, ESPNW and elsewhere. A former Women of the World Poetry Slam Champion, she’s featured on hundreds of stages from The White House to The Apollo, and co-organized #PoetsforPuertoRico. She lives in Philadelphia.
