Workshop Overview
The murder of George Floyd last spring arguably represents a watershed moment in US history, painstakingly highlighting longstanding racial injustices. This awareness has extended across the world, uniting individuals across differences to unite in advocacy for a more just and equitable world. Notwithstanding, international schools often erroneously believe that the mere presence of national and linguistic diversity automatically yields internationalmindedness and intercultural competency, and fosters an inclusive school. Longitudinal research finds the exact opposite. Inclusion is always intentional. Moreover, international schools represent unique challenges and opportunities in light of the various national frameworks.
During this webinar, Dr. Derrick Gay will guide participants through introspection leveraging the Intercultural Competency Framework and strategies for AASSA schools to foster racial inclusion in schools.
