About the Event

From Foundations to Fluency: The Science of Reading in Action

Best practices in reading instruction and corresponding materials have swung on a pendulum for years. Thankfully, the research community in cognitive and instructional science have arrived on a body of research that stops the swinging and allows us to focus our energy and resources on what matters most at each grade level span. Curriculum Associates now has a component approach that can be tailored for the unique curriculum needs of your district or school.

Participants will understand the difference in the two foundational skills programs (Magnetic K-2 Foundations & Phonics for Reading) as well as the upper grade comprehension program (Magnetic 3-5) through a high level overview of the intent of each. Participants will see evidence of the Science of Reading and the Science of Reading Instruction is all of the programs while getting a strong feel for how a teacher would use the program in their classroom.

Participants will experience some of the instructional and engagement routines used in the program.
