Building Safe Environments: Talking and Teaching About Consent in International Schools

In this 3 part series participants will learn and discuss how to build a safe environment in schools by talking and teaching about consent in international schools. Topics covered will be centered around exploring the “what” and “why” of consent, child protection, engaging stakeholders, and strategies for teaching about consent within a child protection program.

Building Lessons about Consent in School

Cheryl-Ann Weekes is an experienced Master's level professional school counselor with over 20 years of experience working with teenagers; For the past 9 years she has been working in international schools. She has lived in Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Ethiopia, Thailand, Egypt and now lives in Cote d’Ivoire. Her purpose is to support and encourage young people with compassion, and to allow them to express their emotions and opinions in a safe space. She is committed to  positive mental health and believes in the need for therapy in all communities.  She is passionate about discussing consent  with students and helping counselors and schools begin consent lessons to their schools.
